Merry, Merry!

Hey Lauren,
I hope your holidays have been happy and that you have enjoyed any visitors who may have come to spend some time at home. I know you were happy to see them! Have you been able to dig out of all the snow that you got? We got flakes for awhile, nothing stuck but it was fun to go out and stand in it.
I haven't been sewing much. The Party Guy brought the crud home from work Monday before Christmas and we have both spent the holidays feeling miserable. I didn't even get to cook the magnificent Christmas dinner that I had planned because we didn't feel like eating. The Party Guy missed two days of work...a first in the 25 years that he has worked at his current job! Another sign that he was under the weather was the sleeping until 9:30! I have never known him to do that. Hopefully we are both on the down side of this thing and will be back to 100% soon.
I did read something online about piecing letters out of fabric and gave it a try.

It was fun and I can see many possible uses on future quilts.
Your pink and green quilt is beautiful and I know the intended receiver will love getting and using it.
I am a little envious at the opportunities...shopping and quilt groups...that you have available. I think I need to search a little more in this area for a group to "bee" with.
I'm game for February!
Do you make quilting resolutions for the New Year?

A bit of sewing

Hi Annt- I have been remiss in not sewing and not updating. The wedding looked like a wonderful event and you of course looked beautiful, as always! I went to Patti's house for sewing on a Saturday a few weeks ago- it was great, the only thing missing was you. It's a really nice group of women and there was some inspirational stuff being produced via their sewing machines. I found a backing for my red, green and turquoise quilt- it is deadly to be sitting at Patti's surrounded by fabric all for the taking, well, buying. Maybe when I go to Patti's in February you can come with me! I have settled on the baby quilt that you helped me find the pink and green for- remember those cute chickens- I didn't use them-Here are a couple of photos. I will send photo of completed quilt when it is sewn together. The colors and fabric make me happy.

Missing in Action

Hey Lauren,
Sorry I've been MIA. I've been getting ready for and recovering from the wedding of the year! Had a great time and I'm always so happy to see family when there is a celebration. The Bride was gorgeous, the groom handsome and I do believe the father of the bride is thankful that's the wedding is over and everyone is happy!
The only pictures that I got of the wedding quilt that I made for them are pretty lame.
and a close up

I can't believe I didn't take a better picture. I was going to once we got to the bride's house but by then wedding activities had started and the picture taking got shoved aside. The quilt was accepted with surprise and delight. I love when that happens!
I've been working on my Christmas block of the month that I got from the Fat Quarter Shop.  Here's a link to the club. I'm all caught up with the blocks and I am happy with the way it is turning out.
I found the happiest Retro Christmas quilt pattern. Go look at that and try not to smile!
So what are you up to?

Ugly Fabric Challenge

Ann I am looking for backing for my quilt and I want something fun in the right colors, the green, red or turquoise. Will you help me look? While we are looking let's post anything that is so astonishingly ugly we can't believe it. I'll start: MMWRNGBR
