BiCoastal from the Left Coast VQA

While I was motivated by the fabric that you choose since for some weird reason you selected Snowmen. You remember that you are not a fan of snowmen, right? You'll see in my main fabric below at the top right corner of this there are snowmen in my print-my ode to you. I bought the print and the muslin background...and a couple other fabrics. For the reds and greens I (pretty much) used what I had on hand.

I haven't put that block together yet.
I have done all 17 of the trees though.
I am channeling you as you can see below, I have saved all of the triangles to make something out of in the future.
After I throw in a load of laundry I'm going to sew the long strips- there's a ton of them. I've been watching Bored to Death while sewing. It's a fun show perfect for sewing time.
This quilt is fun- it could only be better if we were racing, I mean sewing together.

Bicoastal VQA

I'm so excited about our decision to have a virtual quilt along! It's going to be so much fun seeing the same quilt made up and how different they will be. I saw our chief inspirer, aka Patty Cline, last Friday at the Quilt Expo that she puts on every year in Columbia and told her about how she had motivated us to do a VQA. Maybe we can find a way to share pictures of our finished projects with her.
The other day I got all of my fabric together.....
I know what you're thinking.....are those snowmen???? Yes they are and I'm not certain about them yet but the colors are perfect for the fabric I already have.
Then I cut out everything I would need. As you know, when I sit down to sew, I don't want to have to get up and down to cut more! I finally got a chance to sew a little yesterday. It's been Grand Central Station around here lately and I haven't had much sit down and sew time. My machine was calling my name! Instead of chain piecing all the parts together in order, I made one of each block. I'm like that, I just wanted to see what they would look like.
So far, so good.
I'm hoping to get in a little stitching time today.
Now it's your turn. Show me what you've done!

Long Time No Post!

Hi Friend!
It's hard to believe so much time has passed since you were here! Where does it go??
The class you took with John Flynn sounds (and looks) amazing. I was so inspired just looking at the pictures. I'm sorry I wasn't there to race with you. Any man who carries a seam ripper around in his pocket has got to be a keeper! Show me your quilt tops! Thanks for not getting me the t-shirt. You know me well!
Here's what I know after having you come visit.....walking 6++ miles is way easier with you by my side. I've been out there in the heat trying my best but time doesn't go by as quickly as when I'm talking to you. I'm planning on doing the  LoCo Motion in September and that's 10 miles a day for 3 days. Laura, my sister, and Julie are going to do it with me so hopefully there will be lots of talk and bonding.
It is so blasted hot here and it is summer so we have had lots of guests and that's what I'm blaming my lack of progress on. I've started Claire's quilt and the fabrics are going to be just gorgeous together. All the fabric is cut. Now I just need to sew it together.
I'm trying hard to be totally random with the fabrics...it's been a little hard to do.

Because it's been so hard to focus I wanted a brainless thing to do so I made a selvedge edge tote bag.

I have a couple of friends that have been saving the selvedges off the fabric that they are cutting up for me. It was fun picking them out to put on the bag. It's almost like a memory bag because I can remember each fabric and sometimes where I got it. Can you see the little pink strip with the VW on it? This all started after we had gone to a shop down in Jacksonville and I commented on some projects that they were showing using selvedges. When they started giving me their selvedges it was a challenge and I can't turn down a challenge. Now, if I can get my act in gear, I might make them one since they are being so diligent about saving the selvedges for me.
I've been knitting..
I just finished this. It felt good to actually finish something.
Let's plan our virtual quilt along. The start date needs to be decided on.
I love the quilt..

You are welcome at my house anytime!
Next time we see each other, I give you a lesson on how to use Wonder Under...

I'm In Your House - Where I Always Feel at Home

You and your DH are fast asleep and I'm on West Coast time. I decided I'd post something on our blog that I've been meaning to post for 2 years. It's the time I took two classes from John Flynn in Long Beach California. The classes were glorious, I was in the zone and John was a fabulous teacher. I had a secret crush on him because he had a seam ripper in his pocket. He's a married man and I can carry my own seam ripper but there is something sexy about a man with a seam ripper. He irons too but I've had men who can iron.

I sat in the back of the classroom because you weren't with me and I had no one to race with!

The Cake Ladies

Here's what I thought about for you as a present- I didn't because I knew in a million years you wouldn't wear it!

These are some of the samples John brought with him to inspire us. The quilting is amazing.

I've finished the two tops I started in the class- well I finished the tops and I will post photos of them when I get back to California. Good night for now - it's time for fabric dreams. p.s. Do you know how to use wonder under? Maybe you could do a lesson on our blog to help me out.
