Run In with the Rotary

I am so envious that you went to a quilt show and I wasn't there. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It looks like there were a lot of fabulous quilts. Funny coincidence...I worked at the LQS the day of your post. A group of women came through on their way to a long quilting weekend here on the island. They have been doing this weekend for 15 years. I mentioned you and how we used to do that but hadn't been able to now that we were across the country for each other. One of the ladies mentioned The Road to California show and told me I needed to go out to see you and attend. When I got home and read your post I took it as a sign!
My rotary cutter and I had a little bit of a run-in yesterday. I have always wondered how quilters were able to injure themselves while using one and now I know. About 10 minutes after the man left the house to play golf, I managed to slice the middle finger on my left hand pretty badly. I applied pressure and was sure that was all that was necessary. After 45 minutes I started trying to find a walk-in clinic but it was after 3:00 on a Saturday...no luck! So, I drove myself to the Emergency room and I'm glad I did. I got four stitches, a tetanus shot and lost most of my fingernail. My finger is a little swollen and sore today and I haven't been near the rotary cutter. It's in time out until I feel better!

There is a new quilt store on the south end in the same place as the one that closed. She's done a lot to open the space up and it looks good. Lots of Kaffe, Amy Butler and fabrics that you don't find everywhere. I thought of you because there was a quilt on the wall that she had made and I was admiring it. She showed me the book that the pattern was in and then proceeded to draw the pattern out for me so I didn't have to buy the book! "Have you got a copy machine?"

I was so good to hear from you. We do need to plan some sort of get-away. I don't know if I can wait until next year! I'm going to Mom's this weekend to run the half marathon. It will be a great girls weekend. My sister, niece, and daughter-in-law  are running in it too. No fabric involved unless I can sneak away to a great LQS nearby. I'll let you know!
How's your Block of the Month coming along?
